Year Review and Challenge!

Hey guys I hope you had an AMAZING Christmas and that you are as excited as I am to start off the new year! I wanted to take a post and share some of the fun things I have gotten to do this year and then give you a little challenge! So let's get started!

1. In March I had the awesome opportunity to compete with my jazz choir at an All- Choir Competition and my jazz choir won in 2 out of 3 categories and won the over all competition.

2. After winning the competition my choir got the honor of singing at the Kennedy Center before the main stage show.

3. In May, my family and I went to the NASCAR race in Richmond and I got to meet Chase Elliott and I was even on NASCAR.com

4. Later in July my family and I took a trip to Charlotte, NC and spent a few days viewing the shops and going to the Hall Of Fame. It really was a great family trip and I even got to meet David Ragan!

5. A week after I got home from Charlotte I left for a Mission Trip to Charleston with my youth group. There I got to work with children and created activities to do. It really was a life changing experience and I can't wait to go on another trip this summer.

6. A couple weeks later I got the message of a lifetime that my best friend who lives in Tennessee was only two hours away from me. Of course I went and had an amazing time and learned we wouldn't be apart for too long.

7. Less than a month later I was back with Katelyn on our way to a race week in Bristol. It was one of the best weeks of my life. We surprised another friend and got to make some unforgettable memories.

8. In September we started school again here and it was the start of my junior year in high school (which is going pretty well!).

9. The racetrack always seems to call me back when I haven't been gone long. So Halloween my family and I drove to the track for the truck race! It was a really fun day at a cool track and I got to see some friends that I hadn't seen since Bristol and Richmond (which was in September).

10. So a little fact about me is that I am a Broadway nerd. One of my all time favorite shows is Newsies. My fabulous parents got me tickets for my 17th birthday and I was slightly excited! Now if you follow me on Instagram you know I got to meet a cast member which was fantastic!

The last thing I don't have a picture of and it happened back in September is I started this little blog called Rocking the World. It was an impulse move that has actually become a wonderful thing for me! I have gotten to learn about others and connect with people too! I hope you enjoy reading these posts as I do writing them!

So the Challenge!

I have learned that if I don't take time to look through my pictures and recap the year I forget a lot of things so doing this yearly review helped me remember some cool things I did! So what you guys can do for this challenge is make a flipagram with all your fun memories from 2015 and put your favorite song from 2015 in and send it to me on Twitter or Instagram (which are linked)!

I can't wait to see your videos and your fun memories! I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you have a wonderful New Years!

Rocking Christmas with Megs: Boat Parade!

What I am updating again!? I know it is a miracle but here is another post in my series Rocking Christmas with Megs!

So in my town there is an annual Boat Parade! So this year my parents and I took a day trip to go see it. The parade was beautiful. The boats were decorated to support Paris and others were just really fun! The they all drove by and everyone got to cheer for their favorites!

The parade was in Downtown Alexandria which is such a cute little town. They have little boutiques and resturants and the streets are all decorating!  This cute little town also has a store representing my two favorite guys Ben and Jerry! Literally one of my favorite places to get ice cream. I like to get Milk and Cookies on a sugar cone. It is my favorite!

I also got a new outfit for this occasion so I could be festive but still warm and a little dressy.

My skirt which is peaking out from under my coat I got from Khol's and that skirt is just a fun and festive pattern.

With the skirt I had on a black long sleeve shirt with a red scarf also from Khol's.

I actually don't know where the coat is from ( I got it as a hand me down) But any coat that you love to wear is perfect.

Now you cant see my shoes but I was wearing a pair of brown riding boots from Khol's that are so cute and comfy!

This outfit is perfect for a Christmas dinner or a party or if you just want to be a little dressy!

But that is it for this fun little post about some fun things that go on in my little world. Make sure you search around because your town could have something fun going on too! If you do happen to find something fun and you go make sure you let me know and send me some pics!

I hope you enjoyed this post and got some outfit inspiration for the holidays! If you try out a similar outfit make sure you send me a pic using #christmaswithmegs and I will talk to you guys soon!

Thankfulness Challenge!

Hey guys! So with Thanksgiving coming up I wanted to share my top 10 things I am thankful for and then give you guys a challenge!

1. My amazing family! I have been blessed with awesome parents to be with since I am an only child.

2. My awesome church! I have been apart of my church for almost 17 years and growing there is just amazing.

3. My great friends. I have been blessed to have such a great group of friends including you guys! It is always nice to have such a great group to support me through everything!

4. Education! I know "ugh school is gross" but learning is important even though it's a pain we gotta do it.

5. Social Media! I mean if we didn't have social media I wouldn't have this blog or some of my awesome friends.

6. Racing! Not only has social media brought me awesome friends but so has racing. I have great friends through racing whether I am sitting in the stands with them or watching them race. But without racing I wouldn't have either one.

7. Headphones! I mean we don't think about this but imagine sitting and having to listen to everyone's music. It would be a pain and you wouldn't be happy.

8. Transportation. Trust me if you told me I had to walk everywhere I wouldn't go anywhere. Some days it just isn't worth it.

9. Choir. For those who don't know I am really into my choir. I have been in choir for a really long time and it is a must for me in school and I am lucky to have an awesome choir director too.

10. My camera. I have been getting into the whole photography thing lately and my camera is definitely my companion in that journey.

So those are my top 10 things I am thankful for and now here is the challenge part! I want you guys to make your top 10 things you are thankful for. Trust me it is harder than it sounds like but you never realize what you will come up with! When you get your list either post it in the comments section or send it to me on social media (Twitter or Instagram) because I would love to know what you guys are thankful for!

That is it for this post I hope you enjoyed it and I can't wait to get your lists and I will talk to you guys soon!

My Top 10 Things to Do with Your Friends

So if you are like me you never know what to do when your friends come over. I tend to google what to do about 10 minutes before they get to my house. So here is my list of fun and somewhat free things to do when your friends come over so your not on your phone the whole time!

1. Have a movie marathon! I know everyone says this but watching movies with friends is so fun and you can always get giggles from your favorite movie.

2. Create a photo shoot! With technology now everything cell phone has a camera. Get dressed up with your friends and go outside and take some pictures!

3. Do some baking! Who doesn't love baking? Plus you can make really yummy food and then eat it all too!

4. Pull an all nighter! If your friend happens to be sleeping over why not just stay up! You can always sleep the next day and plus late nights produce very fun memories (I speak of experience)

5. Make ice cream sundaes! I am a huge ice cream freak so this is a must for me. Get fun toppings and make sure you take pictures and post them to prove you did it and remember how good it looked while you admire how good it tastes!

6. Nail decorating! Grab some fun colors and paint your nails. It's fun and they will look super cute!

7. YouTube. There are so many things to watch on YouTube. There's anything from hair tutorials to wedding disasters. You guys will be able to find something.

8. Go out and get some frozen yogurt! I love frozen yogurt and it is just fun to go out and get some frozen yogurt with friends. Plus if you find a good cheap place it is just a bonus.

9. Pinterest! There are so many fun things to do on Pinterest! From little crafts to big DIY projects. Do something you will both enjoy doing.

10. Enjoy each other's company! This is a big one. Make sure you just have fun together! These people you hang out with could be around for a while and you will always have these memories. So make sure you enjoy your time together!

Now if you use any of these ideas or you do something else fun with your friends feel free to tell me about it on my social media! I would love to hear what you guys do together! Also feel free to share this blog with your friends so they get great ideas too!

As always I hope you enjoyed this post and I will talk to you guys soon!

A Half Mile of Mayhem

I would just like to take a minute before we get to the actual post and say I hope everyone likes the new look! I think it is much better than the old one! But anyway on to the real reason your here!

So of course when racing comes back around what do I do? I splurge and go see some racing.

Martinsville Speedway is known as the half-mile of mayhem and man it lives up to its name. It is the smallest track on the NASCAR circuit. This weekend they were running the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series. I had tickets for the truck race and decided to make the trek with my parents.

We got to the track at the end of Cup practice so we immediately went in to the track to watch truck qualifying. This week two of my favorite people and really good friends were running the truck series. Gray Gaulding and Dalton Sargeant. Guys I am not playing with you these guys are going to be legends. They are already doing amazing in their part time rides.

But after qualifying and another cup practice, it was time for the race. Before the race I got to see Gray and wish him luck and we even took a picture. Gray and Dalton both had good starting spots. But the race was INSANE. Twelve cautions and Matt Crafton was the winner. Unfortunately Gray and Dalton had a rough race.

After the race, I walked out to the gate and got to see Dalton and his family. I was super happy to see him again after seeing him in Bristol and watching him race Richmond and I finally got to meet his mom (who is absolutely one of the sweetest people on the planet!) after talking to her on Twitter. We talked for a good amount of time and I got a picture with him too.

Then while we were walking back towards the car I saw Gray's dad. I ran up and gave him a hug and he invited us to hang out at the RV for a little bit. Of course we went up and we got to hang out with their whole family for a little bit. They really are a great family and awesome friends.

But the whole day was pretty fun! It was my first day there and I really enjoyed it plus It was a great family day. If you are looking for tracks to go to I highly suggest Martinsville.

That's all I have for this post but I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to tell me your favorite tracks in the comments or on twitter and I will talk to you guys soon!

Women Crush Wednesday: Jordan Fish and Rydel Lynch

Hey guys so I realized this is my last WCW post! I really hope you guys enjoyed this mini series I did! I really enjoyed introducing you to these amazing ladies. To finish out the series I have TWO ladies to introduce you too.

These two amazing ladies are Miss Jordan Fish and Miss Rydel Lynch!
(From left to right: Jordan Fish, Rydel Lynch)

Starting off with Jordan! She is the girlfriend of NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin and mother of her adorable daughter Taylor. She also runs her own blog and is a total fashionista. She is also a model for Marlyn's Model and Talent Management along with being a part of the Denny Hamlin Foundation.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jordan in Bristol (I met a lot of people guys!). She was so super sweet and so excited to see us after waiting to get off the ferris wheel (it is a long story). We took pictures and talked for a long time! She is so super sweet!

The other fabulous lady I have to tell you is Miss Rydel Lynch! She is the keyboard player and vocalist of the band R5. This is a band that includes three of her brothers and their family friend. Guys, she is the only girl in the band. She lives with four boys on a bus. But she is also a big advocate for being who you are. She has her own style and lives her life as her own. She also has her own magazine column and she has been on the cover of multiple magazines.

I met Rydel when I went to see R5 live (they were KILLER! Check them out!). She was so sweet and stayed out to sign autographs and take pictures after the show. She is so sweet (like all these amazing ladies) and super funny. She works hard and does everything the best she can.

I encourage you to look up these amazing ladies on social media(I will post their twitter handles below) and any of the other amazing ladies I have told you guys about. They really are amazing people in this world that have impacted my life and are my role models. I hope you enjoyed this mini series and that you found some ladies that inspire you to be great too!

I hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to comment what my next mini series should be! Thanks for reading!

Women Crush Wednesday: Emma Blaney

Hey guys!

So it is Wednesday again which means you get to meet one of the other amazing people in my life!

This week I am introducing you to my amazing friend Emma Blaney!

Emma is the super sweet older sister of NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney. She is the oldest out of three Blaney kids (she has a sister named Erin.). She is also the owner along with her mother of a little boutique in North Carolina called Emleigh's and Mama B's (which is totally adorable make sure you check it out at http://emleighs-boutique.myshopify.com/ )

I was given the pleasure to meet Emma on my trip to Bristol this summer. This was after a failed attempt to meet her at her store when I visited Charlotte earlier in the summer. But it was well worth the wait. She was so nice and talked to me for a good amount of time and I even got to meet her boyfriend Cale Conley along with my friend Katelyn.

Emma is a great role model for anyone out there. She is positive and hard working in her daily life. To me she shows how to enjoy life and everything it throws at you. She makes people feel good and will always be there to help you no matter how close you two are. She cares about her family and friends tremendously and keeps them close to her heart.  She works to make her dreams come true and I find that very inspiring.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about Emma because she is honestly one of my favorite people! Make sure you come back next week to see who else I admire and as always I hope you enjoyed this post.

Woman Crush Wednesday: Samantha Busch

Hey guys! So I have a new thing I am going to be doing every Wednesday in October called Woman Crush Wednesday! This is a just a fun thing to share the women who I believe are making a huge difference in many lives including mine!

So to start this week off I am going to introduce you to Samantha Busch!

Samantha is the wife of NASCAR Driver Kyle Busch and the mother of her adorable son Brexton. She is one of the sweetest people on the planet!  She always takes the time to say hello to everyone. I was fortunate to meet her on my summer trip to Bristol with my friends. Not only did she stand and talk to us for a long time but she stopped to talk to the little kids and completely reminded me of a Disney Princess. She also took the time to take pictures with us and helped us get a group picture with Daniel Suarez. She is also a HUGE fashionista. If I could get her to style my closet it would be a dream. She always looks super stylish and looks good for every occasion. She styles herself with some of the best boutiques and stores.

Samantha is also a big part of the Kyle Busch Foundation. His foundation helps families overcome hardships by empowering them and encouraging them. She is honestly one of the most inspiring people for me and many others.

But most importantly she is super sweet to everyone she meets. She has a super big heart for everyone and will always stop to see people and show off her beautiful smile. She is truly a special friend and someone who is making a difference in the world.

I hope you enjoyed learning about this amazing woman and come back next week to learn about another amazing woman changing the lives of a lot of people. If you wanna see more of Samantha check out her website at samanthabusch.com

Fall Favorites

Hey guys!

So with October finally here and Halloween around the corner, I thought I would share my top 10 things to do in the fall. If you have a favorite or something you like to do in the fall feel free to comment or send me a message on my social media. But with that lets get started!

1. My favorite thing to do in the fall is DRINK HOT CHOCOLATE. Call me weird but I love Hot Chocolate. I just love using all my different mugs and putting marshmallows and Whipped Cream in my mug and enjoying the warm drink.

2. Another thing I love doing is carving pumpkins. Especially if you make a party out of it. If you have friends and food it is so fun and can be a highlight of the season.

3. Number three on the list is going to football games at school! Wheter you actually understand what is going on (trust me I do not understand football) or you just like the social part it is always a fun time.

4. Go on a walk! I know it sounds lame but  go out and look at the beautiful colors around you. Take some pictures while you're at it!

5. Another favorite thing is making s'mores around a real fire. Get some friends together and just enjoy each others company. Plus s'mores are really yummy and I love them so I tend to eat too many. NO shame here.

6. One thing about fall that is AMAZING is when Disney Channel brings back all their Halloween movies and play them all the time. My favorite is Hocus Pocus. I always have friends over and we watch them together. Let me know what your favorite is in the comments!

7. Have a Halloween party! You are never to old to put on a costume and go have fun okay? I love dressing up and hanging out with friends. Especially if the party is on Halloween then you can go trick-or-treating and get candy too! So it is a win win situation.

8. Go on a hike! This kind of goes with the whole walk thing but hiking is fun and it's good exercise and really pretty!

9. Another thing that is amust is have a lazy day. Now I am not saying have a lazy day every day and never do anything. I am saying take a Saturday and chill. Get a cozy blanket and pick some movies and relax for a day.

10. Last but not least is ENJOY the season! Fall is so beautiful and so full of adventure.

I hope you enjoyed reading my top 10 things to do in the fall!  Hope this helps get your fall started off and gives you fun ideas! If you do some of the same things or have a favorite thing you do that I didn't mention let me know in the comments!

A Summer to Remember

With the first week of school complete , everyone is scrolling through their photo albums and looking at all the fun they had this summer and wishing it would come back. Trust me, I'm doing it too and I can't help but share some of my favorite things I did.

Summer started off at the racetrack. NASCAR announced that there would be certain drivers testing at Richmond International Raceway and of course I couldn't resist going. So I hopped into the car with some of my closest friends and family and we headed down to Richmond. I also was fortunate to get a brand new camera and got some pretty fun pictures.

A few weeks later, I headed to the home state of racing, Charlotte, North Carolina. I spent a weekend with my family touring the NASCAR Hall of Fame and different race shops. We started the weekend at the Hall of Fame. Then moved on to the shops. Now if you are a huge NASCAR fan like I am and you have never toured the race shops. You gotta do it. We went to Penske, Joe Gibbs, Hendrick, Micheal Waltrip Racing. All the shops are super nice and fun to go to and if you're lucky you can even see drivers. I was lucky enough to see David Ragan who is such a super guy!
Exactly a week after I got home, I left with my youth group to go on our annual mission trip and this year we went to Charleston, West Virginia. It was definitely a humbling and wonderful experience. I got to work with some amazing people and grow a lot in my faith.
Towards the end of the summer I got the opportunity to see one of my best friends that lives in Tennessee that I was fortunate to meet over Twitter. We had skyped and texted for months before actually getting to see each other in person. Katelyn was visiting family and then they made a stop near my home and we couldn't help being so close and not seeing each other.
Now I am fortunate to have two best friends that share my love for racing and other things. After seeing Katelyn we had a whole new surprise in the works. NASCAR was heading to Bristol for their night race where Katelyn and my other best friend, Seanna had tickets. When seeing Katelyn we learned they had an extra ticket for Bristol and with a few conditions it had my name on it. During the two week period before the race, Katelyn and I kept it a secret from Seanna that I would be in Bristol.

Finally it was time for the Bristol race and I was reunited with Katelyn for a week of racing.
We arrived at Bristol Motor Speedway on a rainy Tuesday morning and after we were all set up we headed up to the track for some fun. Now let me say Bristol is one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever seen. It just is. But on Tuesday there was only one series at the track but we still loved seeing some great people and yes Seanna still didn't know I was there and it was hard to not post on any social media.

(From left to right: Dalton Sargeant, Erik Jones, Daniel Suarez)

Finally Wednesday came around which was the day Seanna got her surprise. The day started off as just me and Katelyn though. We got to see a very good friend in the beginning of the day after some rain and watching practice.
Ryan Blaney

Fast forward through the day and we got to surprise Seanna. It was probably one of the best surprises I have ever pulled off. But finally after a few months of us talking and the three of us becoming best friends, we were together.

The rest of the week was pretty fun. Katelyn, Seanna, and I spent as much time together as we could through the races though. We did get to see some other drivers and friends too but nothing topped being with Katelyn and Seanna. It was really one of the best weeks of my life. Being with your bets friends is pretty great and its really nice when you all like the same thing too. Below are some of the other pictures of us and the trip.

As always thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post!
